Former George Rogers Clark and Eastern Kentucky University standout Yeremiah Bell signed a free-agent contract with the New York Jets recently following a nine-year career with the Miami Dolphins. Bell inked a one-year deal worth $1.4 million, which includes incentives and signing bonuses. Bell answered a few questions with Newark Star-Ledger reporter Conor Orr and offered his thoughts on sigining with the Jets. What are your first impressions of being with the Jets? “I always knew it was one of the top-ranked defenses in the league, but it's really exciting once you get to go through it and you get to see all the moving parts of it. You get to see all the great players in front of you, how the defense schemes itself up, and you know exactly how we're trying to attack people.

Yeremiah Bell hasn't forgotten his roots. The Miami defensive back has been working out this summer in Winchester getting prepared for training camp that begins Saturday in Davie, Fla. Bell, a graduate of George Rogers Clark High School and Eastern Kentucky University, has enjoyed spending time away from football and hanging out with his family, including daughter Yamia and son Brayden. "It's been a good summer," he said. "It's always good to get back here, relax and hang out with my kids, my family and take some time off from football.

Ventrell Jenkins never appreciated Kentucky head coach Rich Brooks and defensive line coach Rick Petri more than when he got to the Buffalo Bills' minicamp. "Coach Brooks and coach Petri got me ready for this opportunity. All the things I learned from coach Petri carried right over to the NFL," said Jenkins, a defensive end and the most valuable player in Kentucky's Liberty Bowl win last year. "I was so far ahead of most other rookies because of all the drills and things we had been doing for four years with coach Petri.

LEXINGTON - He's played football in various cities across the country, and even in Europe. However, there's also one constant about every place Chris Demaree has been. "I have always have a real good time playing football," the former Kentucky defensive end said. "I have been everywhere from San Diego to San Francisco to Chicago to Kansas City to Charlotte. I went to NFL Europe. I went to the Super Bowl. I've always had a good time. " Well, almost always. He did get discouraged late in his career at Kentucky because of the inconsistent defense the Wildcats had under coach Hal Mumme and defensive coordinator Mike Major.

Even though training camp was almost ready to start for the Indianapolis Colts, Jacob Tamme never worried that he would not have his first NFL contract signed in time to report as scheduled. "I was never real concerned about it," said the former University of Kentucky tight end. "Some teams do not start negotiations as early as other teams. Some teams just wait later. I never did feel it would be any problem getting my contract done. " Tamme and the Colts came to terms on a four-year deal that included a signing bonus on Wednesday.
