NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Freshman Archie Goodwin tried to choose his words carefully as he analyzed why Kentucky lost 64-48 to Vanderbilt on Friday. “They played with more energy and toughness than we did. Then again, this is something every team has been doing to us all year. We didn't do what we needed to do, but at the same time it was like, 'Well this has happened so many times over the year.' Until we fix that, nothing changes,” Goodwin said after the Southeastern Conference tournament quarterfinal loss to a team UK¿beat twice during the season.

LEXINGTON - He had his best game at Kentucky, but freshman center Willie Cauley-Stein was quick to credit his teammates for his success. “When my teammates play like that, it helps me. If teammates are doing their things, it excites me. It's fun playing that way instead of feeling like you've got to make a major move every time you get the ball,” Cauley-Stein said after Wednesday's 74-70 win over Vanderbilt. He had a career-high 20 points on 8-for-10 shooting from the field along with seven rebounds and three blocks, including two in the final minutes when UK was clinging to a slight lead.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - He had a towel draped over his head and tears streaming down both cheeks as he proclaimed he was the reason Kentucky's NCAA tournament hopes may have disappeared. Sophomore point guard Ryan Harrow wasn't the only reason UK lost 64-48 to Vanderbilt on Friday night in the Southeastern Conference tournament, but he certainly had a game to forget. He was 2-for-15 from the field - and almost all the shots were in the paint. He had four turnovers and just one assist - and often got beat on defense, too. “This loss is just on me,” Harrow said.

LEXINGTON - Just to make sure his players understand how important Saturday's game at Vanderbilt it, Kentucky coach Rich Brooks sent a subtle message to his players. "We have a schedule board that has all the games listed on it. Last week, all the names were off except Vanderbilt. That was to remind us to think about nothing except Vanderbilt," said UK senior defensive end Dominic Lewis. "That is the way we are going to approach rest of the season," Brooks said. That's because the No. 24 Cats know they must beat Vanderbilt (5-4, 2-4)

LEXINGTON - Senior receiver Keenan Burton is not one to make bold predictions or make statements that might find their way to an opposing team's bulletin board. However, Burton won't deny he's "angry" going into Saturday's game at Vanderbilt. No, he's not upset with his coaching staff or anything that has happened in past games against the Commodores. Instead, he's upset that he's not been healthy most of the season and even had to miss the disappointing 31-14 loss to Mississippi State two weeks ago. He's had the flue.

LEXINGTON - Ramel Bradley knows what he has to do if he's going to help Kentucky beat No. 21 Vanderbilt. "I just have to stay focused and keep my head straight," said Bradley. "Offensively, I just have to play smarter. I sometimes have a tendency to make turnovers. I don't think it's always because of the defense or the pressure. Sometimes it's just me making a wrong pass or decision. I just have to be smarter and more focused. " Vanderbilt beat Kentucky 72-67 last month in Rupp Arena.

HOOVER, Ala. -- Vanderbilt receiver George Smith thinks his team and Kentucky have both shown other Southeastern Conference teams that they can play with anyone. "We both definitely have high caliber players that can compete at a high level," said Smith during the SEC Media Days here. "We have proven that over and over. We have won tough games on the road and home. So has Kentucky. Look at what they did the last two years. " Still, it's not easy for Kentucky or Vanderbilt to move up in a division that has Florida, Tennessee, Georgia and South Carolina.
