Bessie E. Oaks Snyder, 71, of Waynesburg, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 5, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville.  Born March 23, 1941, Bessie was a daughter of the late Hernon and Rosa Denny Oaks. She was a faithful member of Mt. Hebron Baptist Church, a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many and the widow of Jack  Snyder who preceded her in death on Sept. 7, 2006.   She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Mark  Snyder; and two brothers, Marshall and Carl Oaks.

Gordon “Gordy” Privett, 79, of KY Hwy 501 in Waynesburg, passed away Saturday, Feb. 2, at Fort Logan Hospital in Stanford.  Born Thursday, Aug. 31, 1933, in the South Fork area of Lincoln County, Gordy  was a son of the late Lucion and Stella Carrier Privett. He was an Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict Era stationed at Fort Knox. Gordy was a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church and he loved basketball,  traveling, caring for his vehicles and NASCAR racing, especially #24 Jeff Gordon,  He was also preceded in death by a brother, Arnold Privett.  Survivors include his loving wife,  Ruby J. Padgett Privett, whom he married on June 21, 1979; a daughter, Tricia Privett of Eubank; one brother, Harlan Privett of Waynesburg; two sisters, Geraldine (Elmer)

Patrick “Pat” Hugh Lanigan, 85, of H. Garrison Road, Waynesburg, passed away Thursday, Jan. 17.  Born Thursday, Nov. 3, 1927, in Casey County, ¿ Patrick was a son of the late James “Jim” Lanigan and Lucy Jacobs Lanigan. He was a logger for 51 years and a member of New Life Church of God of Prophecy. Pat loved dirt track racing, deer hunting and was a knife and gun collector. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Porter Lanigan. Survivors include his wife, Billie Jean Adams Lanigan, who he married on Feb. 6, 1948; seven daughters and four sons, Rita (Jack)

Lillian Murphy Jenkins, 87, of KY Hwy 501, Kings Mountain, passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, at her residence.  Born Friday, Feb. 13, 1925, in Lincoln County, Lillian was a daughter of the late Coakley and Della Hatter Murphy. She was a homemaker and a member of Kings Mountain Methodist Church. Lillian was the widow of William J. Jenkins, who preceded her in death on Sept. 19, 2012. They were married Feb. 28, 1946.  She was also preceded in death by a son, Danny Jenkins; a brother, Coakley Murphy, Jr.; and a sister, Iva Dean Murphy.

Ondalee Lemond Perrine Combest, 74, of Stanford,  passed away Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at the Fort Logan Hospital.   Born Jan. 22, 1938, in Grafton, W. Va., Ondalee was  a daughter of the late Clarence  and Opal Odell Zickfoose Perrine. She was the widow of  William Berlin Combest who preceded her in death on July 7, 2002.  Survivors include a sister, Delores Petrey of Crab Orchard; and two nephews, Jerry and Leon Petrey. Graveside services were Jan. 4, at the Double Springs Cemetery in Waynesburg.

WAYNESBURG - A man has been charged with a felony count of evading police after a domestic assault case turned into a bizarre standoff situation Monday night. Timothy Combs, 53, of Waynesburg, has been charged with first-degree fleeing or evading police, third-degree terroristic threatening and fourth-degree domestic violence assault. After sheriff's deputies responded to a domestic violence call at Combs' home on Parker Road Monday night, they left with the victim of the assault, Combs' wife, state police spokesman Paul Blanton said.
