David L. Richie, 50, of Waynesburg, died Thursday, Oct. 25, at his home.   Born July 24, 1962, in Lexington, David was the son of Ruth Edwards Richie of Danville and the late Russell Richie, Jr. He attended Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia as a freshman in high school, was a 1980 graduate of Lincoln County High School and attended Eastern Kentucky University. David was a color technician on D Crew at RR Donnelly in Danville where he worked for over 18 years, was the owner/operator of DL Richie Trucking and a veteran of the Air National Guard.

WAYNESBURG - A Lincoln County woman has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting her husband in the head while he slept. Tamara Richie, 50, of Waynesburg, was arrested Thursday morning by Lincoln County Sheriff Curt Folger and charged with first-degree murder. Richie is accused of shooting her husband, David Richie, in the head with a semiautomatic handgun while he slept. Folger said the shooting allegedly occurred Monday. A family member called the sheriff Thursday morning to report that Tamara Richie had shot her husband and the body was at their home.

KINGS MOUNTAIN - A Waynesburg man wanted in Pulaski and Lincoln counties was arrested by a Lincoln deputy after a cat-and-mouse pursuit Oct. 23. Christopher T. Stull, born Sept. 13, 1991, was lodged in the Lincoln County Regional Jail and charged with first-degree fleeing and evading and marijuana possession, Lincoln County Sheriff Curt Folger said. Stull already had a lengthy list of charges he was wanted for, including Pulaski charges of first-degree fleeing and evading and wanton endangerment of a police officer, among others, Folger said.

Lincoln residents in the Waynesburg and McKinney communities seemed more relieved than anything else last week after hearing about plans to reduce hours at their local post offices. "You brought good news," McKinney resident Tommie Gooch told USPS Manager of Operations Thomas Adkins Wednesday afternoon. "We were afraid we were going to close. " Adkins spent about half an hour in McKinney Wednesday and a little more than an hour in Waynesburg Friday explaining the United States Post Office's plan to scale back hours at more than 33,000 13,000 small post offices.

Post office officials are hearing this week from members of the Waynesburg and McKinney communities about plans to scale back the number of hours their rural post offices are open for business. The United States Postal Service announced in May plans to reduce hours of operation for retail windows at about 13,000 small post offices, including 421 post offices in Kentucky. The Waynesburg post office's retail window would be open six hours a day, and McKinney's would be open two hours a day under the plan.

Paul E. Greer, 71, of Stanford, died Wednesday, Sept. 26, in Lexington.  Born June 16, 1941, in Waynesburg, Paul was a son of the late Charles and Lena Greer. He was a retired truck driver in Cincinnati, Ohio and a member of Teamsters Local 100 of Evendale, Ohio and  the Pleasant Point Baptist Church. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Gabriel Ruhe. Survivors include two daughters, Jennifer (James) Brewer of Crab Orchard and Paula Jean (John) Ruhe of Fort Wayne, Ind.; two brothers, Ronald (Joan)

James “Jamie” Todd Wilson, 37, of Stanford, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 25, at his residence.   Born Friday, Sept. 12, 1975, in Lincoln County, Jamie was a son of Robert “Hoot” Wilson of Waynesburg and the late Phyllis Berry Wilson.  He was an Army veteran and worked for Asplundh Tree Expert Company. Other survivors include sons, Justin Todd Wilson, Travis Duane Wilson, Tristan Leah Wilson, Derek Ray Wilson and Dalton Alexander Wilson;  brothers, Jerry David (Marie Ann)

Gary Ware, 66, of Ware Road in Casey County, died Wednesday, Sept. 5, at the UK Markey Cancer Center in Lexington.   Born Friday, Nov. 30, 1945, in Lincoln County, Gary was a son of the late J.C. and Edna Caudill Ware. He was a lifelong farmer and a member of Walltown Christian Church  and the Kentucky Cattleman's Association.  Survivors include his loving wife, Betty Bastin Ware; one son, Brent (Lisa) Ware of Waynesburg; one brother, Larry (Gail) Ware of Waynesburg; and two granddaughters, Allison and Ashley Ware.
