Ephraim McDowell Health has launched a redesigned website that makes looking for health information, finding a physician, or even paying your hospital bill, more convenient. The new site, http://www.emhealth.org , has several enhanced features and offers a fresh look that is easier to navigate. The features include a listing of all services offered at EMH, online bill pay, a physicians directory, a link to health information and, in the near future, a mobile application for convenient access to the site from your cell phone and convenient pre-registration.

Starting Dec. 3, there will be a small charge for unlimited access to The Jessamine Journal's website. Those who subscribe to the printed paper will continue to have free access to the website until their subscription is up for renewal. At that point, there will be a nominal fee of $5 per year for unlimited online access. Print subscribers who do not wish to access the web do not have to pay the $5. For those who do not subscribe to the paper and wish to have unlimited Web access, the fee will be $18.75 per year.  The online subscription will also include unlimited access to a complete online replica of the weekly paper.

Sometimes, I wonder if the things I buy or the places I shop are good for the environment, or if people are treated well in the process of bringing consumer goods to me. I really like the idea of only giving my money to good companies who care for the earth and their fellow human beings. But it was only ever an idea - I simply didn't have the resources or the time to find out if the things I bought and the companies I bought from were truly eco-friendly. Then, last week, my Mother-in-law showed me an awesome website that ranks different companies and makes it easy for you to make informed decisions about where your money is going.

The mother of a 9-year-old boy who died in an accident 13 months ago has filed a lawsuit against nine Topix.com users on the website for slander and libel in the wake of the crash. Kelly Goff, who also is serving as administratrix of her son William Whitt Goff's estate, filed the suit in Clark Circuit Court in August, shortly before the one year anniversary of the crash on Elkin Station Road. According to the suit, William Whitt Goff and two other boys were riding dirt bikes along Elkin Station Road on the evening of Aug. 19, 2011.

One of our most popular activities, 4-H summer camp, is enrolling now.  July 8-11, we will be taking about 100 local youth to Boyle County 4-H summer camp at the J.M. Feltner 4-H Camp near London, along with other 4-H'ers from Lincoln and Powell counties. The deadline is  June 14, but we've already filled about 25 percent of our beds. Our theme this year is “4-H University” and activities, costume and decoration contests will feature campus highlights such as Greek life, Game Day, a Toga Party, Rush and even Formal.

Guthrie's staff to visit Danville Congressman Brett Guthrie's staff will gather at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Danville City Hall. Guthrie's staff, along with Mayor Bernie Hunstad, will be available to answer questions from residents. The congressman's staff can also help with some types of paperwork. Diabetes information meeting offered A Diabetes and Information Group meeting will be held 6 p.m. April 9 at the Boyle County Health Department. Dr. Ginny Gottschalk will speak about sexual health issues in Diabetes.

Kentucky coach John Calipari has seen the gloomy forecast for his team now that star center Nerlens Noel has been lost for the season due to a knee injury suffered in Tuesday's loss at Florida. But Calipari is not ready to abandon hope for a successful season going into Saturday's game at Tennessee. “I believe in the team. I believe in these guys. Jessamine County Public Library has acquired Freegal Music Service to offer access to more than 3 million songs, including Sony Music's catalog of legendary artists to its registered card holders. The Freegal Music Service will allow the library to increase the size and diversity of its collection by offering access to more than 10,000 music labels from 65 different countries. Under the terms of the agreement, registered card holders of the Jessamine County Public Library can download three Freegal Music tracks in the MP3 format each week at no cost via the library website, www.jesspublib.org.
