Irene Bowling, 80, of Winchester, widow of Charlie Bowling, passed away Monday at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. A native of Knott County, she was born Jan. 31, 1932, to the late Leonard and Martha Browning Shepherd. She was a member of the Antioch Christian Church. Survivors include three sons, Leo Bowling of Winchester, James Lee (Della) Bowling of Ohio and Billy Bowling of Winchester; one daughter, Christine (Charles) Watts of Clark County; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Charlene Wilson, and one grandson, John Watts. Funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the Rolan G. Taylor Funeral Home, 289 S. Main St., with Brother Atwood Winkle officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 11 a.m. until the hour of service.

Oscar Shepherd, 90 of Winchester, widower of Helen Lois Jones Shepherd, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at the VA Medical Center in Lexington. Mr. Shepherd was born in Delphia, Ky. on Oct. 2, 1922, to the late Enoch and Ella Adams Shepherd. He was retired from the Bluegrass Army Depot and was a World War II Army veteran. Survivors include his son, Don Shepherd of Lexington; his brother, Benny Shepherd of Delphia, Ky.; and two sisters, Clara Halcomb of Delphia, KY and Irene Scott of Tazewell, Tenn.

Roberta Castle, 80, of Winchester, passed away at 5:45 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at the Bourbon Heights Nursing Center in Paris. Born in Clark County, she was the daughter of the late Boyd and Roxie Reed Castle. Roberta was a retired AT&T operator and a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She was a member of the First Church of God, Colby Road. Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, Leon and Bonnie Castle, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Roberta was preceded in death by two sisters, Irene C. White and Leverda Wilson; and her brother, Bascom Y. Castle.

Dorothy Arnold, 95, of Winchester, wife of the late Cecil Williams Arnold, passed away on Thursday Jan. 17, 2013, at the Clark Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Arnold was born in Clark County on March 10, 1917, to the late William “Bud” S. Thomas and Mary Ann White, She was a homemaker for many years and was a member of the First Church of God on Colby Road. Additional survivors include three daughters; Edna Hisle, Anna Katherine Tucker and Virginia (Lewis) Cruse, all of Clark County; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and cousins.

Barbara Jordan, 78, widow of Sidney Jordan, passed away at 11:20 a.m. Thursday Feb. 7, 2013, at the Clark Regional Medical Center. A native of Clark County, she was the daughter of the late Charles W. and Beulah Charles Curtis. Barbara was a former Guerrant Clinic nurse for Dr. John Hubbard and a former office assistant for Dr. Marvin Bishop and a member of Ephesus Baptist Church. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, David and Brenda Jordan, and her grandson, Adam Jordan.
