MetalsDepot, headquartered in Winchester, a worldwide supplier of industrial metals, announced the opening of their flagship retail store on Revilo Road Oct. 28. The store is dedicated to serving the local community as well as the surrounding counties with all of their metal and welding supply needs. To kick off the event, one of their freight carriers for worldwide shipments, R & L Carriers, brought in their NASCAR trailer and race car for the event. “This event is a great way to give back to the community and provide our customers a close-up view of an actual NASCAR racing team as well as an opportunity to display our current product offering,” said Eric Ledford, vice-president of sales and marketing.

The Winchester Board of Commissioners must pass new regulations on harmful discharges and stormwater runoff in order to meet state-imposed environmental deadlines that expire before summer. According to a report Tuesday, deadlines are looming to comply with the state’s Phase II Permit for the MS4 Program, the latest in a series of measures over the past four decades seeking compliance with the federal Clean Water Act. Sandy Camargo from CDP Engineering reported that the city must pass three ordinances between March and June aimed at controlling illicit discharges, sediment and stormwater runoff.

Kelley Nichole Robinson, 24, of Winchester, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2013, at the Clark Regional Medical Center. She was born in Lexington on Dec. 13, 1988, to Dewayne and Alta Elkin Robinson of Winchester. She was a Direct Support Professional for CAKY of Winchester, a full-time nursing student, and was baptized at the Ark of Mercy Church of God. In addition to her parents, she is survived by her son, Damian Nathaniel Poole of Winchester; stepdaughter, Edith Poole of Winchester; fiance, William Poole of Winchester; two brothers, Jacob Robinson and Caleb Robinson of Winchester; grandparents, Wayne and Linda Clark of Winchester, Bonnie Townsend of Winchester, Pete and Linda Elkin of Winchester and Ralph Robinson of Powell County; two uncles, Mark Palmer of Winchester and Eric Elkin of Florida; and her aunt, Jami McCue of Winchester.
