A handful of kids and parents milled about to the electronic gurgle of games inside Go Go Gorillas Fun Center around lunchtime Thursday, but the business has recently had to take steps to stave off creditors planning to repossess much of its entertainment and restaurant equipment. On Oct. 3, Boyle Circuit Judge Darren Peckler signed off on a writ of possession ordering the sheriff's office to seize dozens of tables and chairs and other restaurant items, along with the mini bowling alleys that are part of the center's entertainment package.

This bracket wasn't easy. However, based on this writer's crystal ball, which can get cloudy at times, Memphis, UCLA, Tennessee and Wisconsin will be in the Final Four in three weeks. The Volunteers will knockout overall top seed North Carolina in the East Region finals, while Wisconsin eliminates top-seeded Kansas in the Midwest Region championship. Memphis will have to get past Texas to win the South Region, while Xavier's run will end against the Bruins in the West finals.

Gatlinburg, Schmatlingburg. Destin can be your destination but not mine. I get a huge headache every time I travel those winding roads in the Great Smokies. One of my favorite vacation spots is not one of those well-publicized wonderlands most of you will be going to this summer. Mine is Wisconsin. Wisconsin? Beer, brats and big people? Well, Wisconsin has much more to offer. Lush forests. Beautiful lakes. Wonderful water parks. And relatively cool temperatures compared to the hazy, hot and humid summer days we usually experience in Kentucky.

I started commemorating April 20 as Good Friday/Bittersweet Friday back in 1984 when it was really Good Friday on the church calendar. It's what occurred on that day 23 years ago today that led me to call it Bittersweet Friday and observe it on April 20 every year since. This commemoration is all about one of my two older brothers, Tom. He had come down from his home in Wisconsin to Lexington to spend part of his spring break from his teaching job with my father, other brother and me. He had made this spring pilgrimage for several years, but this year it was particularly significant since our mother had died seven months earlier.

As we had planned, my friends and I pulled out of my driveway at 8 a.m. on July 22 - my 64th birthday - to help me mark off two new states on my bucket list. I had jokingly remarked to the two of them that they had better put on a pair of Depends because we were getting to Minnesota as soon as possible. They took me at my word and knocked on my door each wearing a pair of Depends over their clothes. Of course, they had an extra pair that I was to put on for a picture before we left.

A rainy Monday morning didn’t slow down a group of Wisconsinites who are using their spring break to renovate an outdoor pavilion for a Christian group in Wilmore. The structure was known as the old children’s tabernacle during the 120 years the property was owned by Wilmore Camp Meeting. Confrontation Point Ministries purchased the 9-acre tract on East Main Street in October, and executive director Andy Bathje said the pavilion was the first major renovation the organization wanted to take on. “The former children’s tabernacle here — or outdoor pavilion, as we’ve been calling it — was just in really bad shape; it was just an eyesore in general, and we thought it would be something that we could kind of flip and improve,” he said.

Botulism is believed to have caused the deaths of eight ducks and geese at Lake Mingo Park last weekend, Parks Director Duane McCuddy said. "They're pretty sure it's botulism," he said. "The lab up at UK (University of Kentucky) said there were no signs of intentional poison or anything like that. The Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Resources will be sending a sample to a lab in Wisconsin to confirm botulism, but we feel pretty certain that's what it is. " In a letter, Nicholasville veterinarian Dan Bowling, of the Nicholasville Animal Hospital, told Parks Board Chairman George Dean he also felt botulism was the likely culprit.

WASHINGTON - In the last 24 elections, since 1912, winners of the presidency won a plurality of the states along the Mississippi. Today the Republican presidential candidate with perhaps the most impressive resume says: Republicans should assume that in 2008 they will lose Ohio (20 electoral votes), where the state party's corruption and incompetence cost it the governorship, a U.S. Senate seat and a House seat in 2006. So the GOP candidate must carry Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota (27 electoral votes)
