A partnership between Jessamine County E-911 and adjoining counties in an E-911 Regional Infrastructure Network will only provide better emergency service coverage, according to director Shelby Horn. The county is partnering with Fayette and Woodford counties, and Horn said the benefits are many. “What this does is it creates a redundancy between the three of us,” she said. “So, if a line between here and Lexington went down, then my calls would reroute through Woodford and back to us.” The counties involved received a grant from the Commercial Mobile Radio System, which is connected with Homeland Security, for $497,000 to create a Central Kentucky Regional Network, Horn said.

"I was very pleased with the amount of first- and second-places. It was a very small meet, but the teams were mostly large schools," Verhoven said. "What we lacked in depth because of being a small school, we made up for in quality victories.

Comment from C. Kirby Hall: Someone forwarded the article you wrote concerning 6 classes of football. You make far too much sense for KHSAA to listen to you. You are simple to logical on this issue. We (in) Ashland are now in district with Montgomery Co., Woodford Co. Bryan Station, and Johnson Central. Should make for some great crowds when we play Woodford and Bryan Station. This is crazy. Private/Public debate leads to this. Larry's Reply: Appreciate you reading my column.

East Jessamine's 76-65 win over Woodford County on Monday night reached both ends of the spectrum. The Jaguars (7-3) went from an 8-0 hole to a 23-point cushion to an 8-point nail-biter in the final minutes. “I'd love to sit here and say that was just inexperience, but credit (Woodford) for the way they kept digging and clawing at us,” East Jessamine coach Chris O'Bryan said. The Yellowjackets (6-2), who had just one loss on the season coming in, stung East right away. They rattled off eight points in less than two minutes - six of which came from beyond the three-point line.
