The George Rogers Clark High School baseball team chalked up another learning experience following a 7-1 loss to Woodford County Friday afternoon at Cardinal Field. The loss was the sixth in a row for the Cardinals, who have played mostly top-tier teams in the 11th Region since opening the season with wins over Mason County, Letcher County Central and Fleming County. During that stretch, the Cardinals (3-6) have played three teams - Woodford, Dunbar and Madison Central - ranked in the preseason Top 25 poll released by the Kentucky High School Baseball Coaches Association.

The No. 13 Lady Patriots didn't look like a state-ranked team in the road game, leaving a lot to be desired offensively as they fell 57-46 to Woodford County at The Hive. Lincoln coach Cassandra McWhorter said the loss, which snapped a seven-game win streak, was just 'ugly.' “It was ugly start to finish,” she said. “Give Woodford County credit. They've got a lot of talented girls.

East Jessamine's 76-65 win over Woodford County on Monday night reached both ends of the spectrum. The Jaguars (7-3) went from an 8-0 hole to a 23-point cushion to an 8-point nail-biter in the final minutes. “I'd love to sit here and say that was just inexperience, but credit (Woodford) for the way they kept digging and clawing at us,” East Jessamine coach Chris O'Bryan said. The Yellowjackets (6-2), who had just one loss on the season coming in, stung East right away. They rattled off eight points in less than two minutes - six of which came from beyond the three-point line.
