Lauren Holderman finished fifth in the girls 100-yard butterfly for the top Boyle County result Saturday at the Woodford County Invitational in Versailles. Drew Dear was seventh for the Boyle boys in the 500 freestyle, and a Boyle team finished seventh in the boys 400 freestyle relay. The Boyle boys had four other top-10 finishes. West Jessamine was able to send its seniors off with a win Friday night in a 55-28 beat down of Woodford County. “There's nothing better than for the seniors to go out with a win on their last game on their home field,” West Jessamine coach Graham Heasley said. “That's something they'll always remember; it's something I dearly remember; it's fantastic.” While big plays by seniors came up throughout the night, it was junior Devin Taylor who was the backbone of the Colts offense - he scored six of the squad's eight touchdowns.

Sophomore goalkeeper Keeley Naylor made a save on a penalty kick with 11 seconds to play Wednesday to help preserve No. 18 Boyle County's 1-1 tie with No. 15 Woodford County in Versailles. “This was another hard-fought game for us tonight. It was a war, as it always is when we play Woodford. They're a very physical team and their speed of play is fantastic,” Boyle coach Brian Deem said. “I thought the girls did a really good job of holding their own.” It was a scoreless game at the half then the Rebels (5-1-1)

West Jessamine volleyball shocked Woodford County on Tuesday night with a 3-1 victory over the Lady Jackets. The Lady Colts looked like they were primed to win the first game with a 17-13 lead, but a well-placed timeout by Woodford ignited the Jackets, who went on a 12-6 run to close out the first game 25-23. “(We) let up. They just got ahead and let up a little bit,” West coach Debbie Rose said. “They let (Woodford) get a little momentum back. That's something they have to learn.” Game two didn't start West's way either.

The Jessamine County All-Stars' seasons came to an end Monday night. The 12U squad fell to Northern Lexington in the district finals 11-1. Jessamine defeated Woodford on Saturday morning but fell to Northern on Sunday afternoon in the semifinals. Jessamine had to defeat Northern Lexington twice Monday night to win the championship, but it was not up to the task. Jessamine 12U went 2-2 overall in the tournament and was district runner up. Woodford also edged the 10U team on Saturday, but Jessamine got a rematch with Woodford in the losers' bracket Sunday afternoon.

Austin Baxter tossed a complete game Saturday, giving up only an unearned run as No. 14 Danville beat No. 16 Woodford County 8-1 in versailles. “It was a good game by Austin on the mound, he really threw the ball well. It was probably his best outing of the year,”¿Danville coach Paul Morse said. Baxter allowed five hits, struck out five and walked one to move to 4-0 on the season for the Admirals (22-6). Andrew Lasure was 2-for-4 with two RBIs for Danville, Ron Caudill had a hit, was walked twice and stole three bases, Mason Stamm went hitless, but was hit by a pitch twice, scored a run and stole two bases, Rhodes Bell was 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, Dowell Harmon and Baxter each drove in a run and Jay Hunn stole two bases.

Boyle County fell to .500 after dropping a doubleheader to Woodford County on Friday, losing 6-0 and 10-3 at Rebel Field. The Rebels were held to two hits in the first game by Woodford pitchers Logan Parrett and Zack Hacker. They got singles from Jacob Pike in the third inning and Casey Whittle in the fifth, while Parrett struck out 13 batters and walked only two in six innings. Losing pitcher Jarrett Payne allowed three runs on four hits in 4 1/3 innings, and Ryan Pettit allowed the same run and hit totals in 2 2/3 innings.

The Boyle County girls took first and the boys third Saturday at the Woodford County Luck O' the Irish Invitational in Versailles. The Rebels girls had a win from Natalie Settle in the 100-meter hurdles and posted wins in the 1,600 and 3,200 relays. They also had seconds from Maddie Kriz in the 1,600, Nikki Coffey in the 800, Emma Ditto in the 3,200, Settle in the 300 hurdles, Megan Holderman in the pole vault and Tabitha Evans in the triple jump. Boyle was also second in the 400 and 800 relays.
