The Rev. Beth Garrod-Logsdon officially took over as pastor at Wilmore Presbyterian Church on Feb. 1. She received a unanimous vote from the congregation on Dec. 31. "I am excited about continuing to use my gifts of preaching and teaching in a multigenerational setting - a congregation that encourages all, from the youngest to the oldest, to be involved in worship, fellowship and study," Logsdon said. "Leading an engaging and meaningful time of worship is very important to me. Worship is something we do, not just some place we go. " Logsdon holds a bachelors degree in English and secondary education with a minor in religion from Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio.

The fourth annual Unity in the Community week of worship bringing together churches from different racial and denominational backgrounds starts with the first service at 6 p.m. Sunday at Centenary United Methodist Church, 1441 Perryville Road. The service will include a community choir and a separate children's worship. The Rev. Gerry Hearn, pastor of First Baptist Church in Perryville, will deliver the sermon in the adult service. The Unity event will continue each night through Thursday with services at 7 p.m. In addition to the adult services, a community health screening will be 8-10 a.m. and 3:30-6:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)

John 4:13-26: Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” The woman said to Him, “Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw.” She has gone from interest to now want, but her want is still upon the physical. She is thinking the material water, Jesus is leading her from a well that not only quenches the thirst of physical body, but water that supernaturally springs up into everlasting life.

Five-time Grammy Award-winner Kirk Franklin will headline Quest Community Church's third annual citywide party, Questapalooza, on Sunday, Aug. 31. The line-up of internationally recognized artists participating in the event will be Kirk Franklin, Kutless and NeedToBreathe. The event will take place at Quest Community Church, 410 Sporting Court. Franklin, performing in Lexington for the first time since 2000, has won five Grammy Awards, 11 Dove Awards, and sold more than 11 million albums worldwide.

The attendance at the Green River Pentecostal Church Sunday morning was 281. Bro. Eddie Whittemore and Bro. Larry Martin have just returned from a short trip to Haiti. We are thankful for their safe return. The annual youth explosion will be held Friday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. The speaker will be Mike Addison from Corbin. Jeremiah Yocom from Redemption Road Church will be leading the praise and worship. Everyone is invited. The children's Hallelujah party is planned for Saturday, Oct. 25 from 4 to 6 p.m. The ladies are selling Candleberry candles.

Jessie Laine Powell, a Winchester native, will join First Fire, a ministry of First United Methodist Church as minister of worship arts on Oct. 5. She has a strong working knowledge of contemporary worship models, including multi-sensory and multimedia-based worship styles and a deep knowledge of music that fits within the contemporary genre. With a strong background as a vocalist and vocal coach, Jessie's story is one of hurt, healing and restoration. Like many young vocal artists, Jessie moved to California in 1989.

A free, pre-festival concert, "Mini-Ichthus," is open to the public at 6:45 p.m., Thursday, June 8 on the Ichthus Farm, in Wilmore Appearing in concert are Christian music groups Seventh-Day Slumber and Nate Fancher. Concert hosts are Asbury College, Asbury Seminary and Ichthus. Chick-Fil-A will be open for food sales and performer merchandise will be available. Seventh-Day Slumber performs chart favorites, "Oceans from the Rain" and "Caroline. " Nate Fancher is well known for his worship music that includes, "Awakening Days.

Audrey Katherine Clark and Klen Kuruvilla, both of Griffin, Ga., announce their engagement. The bride-to-be is the daughter of William R. "Peanuts" Clark and Nancy Clark of Mackey Pike in Nicholasville. She is in her fourth year at Masters School of Ministry and Leadership. The future groom is the son of Balaju and Rebecca Kuruvilla of Brampton, Canada. He is employed at Griffin First Assembly of God as Worship and Creative Arts pastor. The wedding will take place Nov. 21 at Griffin First Assembly of God, followed by a reception at Dolce Resort in Peachtree City, Ga. www.audreyandklen.

Young Adults Day at Corinth Baptist Corinthian Baptist Church, 37 Fifth St., will observe Young Adult’s Day on Sunday. The Rev. Steven Harris, associate minister of Consolidated Baptist Church, Lexington, will be the guest preacher. Morning worship begins at 11:30 a.m. The Rev. Daniel R. Childs Sr. is host pastor. The public is invited.   Landmark Baptist hosts guest speaker Landmark Baptist Church, 1223 Iron Works Road, will host Dr. Louis Arnold as guest speaker for Father’s Day Sunday.
